Do I need my own bike?
Yes. You need your own bike to bring to every ride. Bike must be equipped with hand brakes, gears and wheels 26 inches or larger.
What should I bring to practice?
You should always bring a helmet that meets safety rating requirements for mountain biking and fits your head snuggly but comfortably. The helmet should be free of dents, cracks, or defects.
You should also bring:
- Closed toe athletic shoes or mountain-bike specific shoes,
- Clothing appropriate for the weather
- Water
- Healthy snack
- A tube that fits your tire, tire levers, pump or co2, multi tool. A quick link that fits your chain is also a good idea.
If these items do not fit in your pockets or on your bike comfortably bring a backpack or fanny pack.
Sunscreen, bike gloves, knee pads and sunglasses are also good to have.
Where do you meet?
Front Rangers groups will meet at various locations and trailheads throughout Colorado Springs and Monument. You can find your practice location by searching the schedule located in Team App.
Community
Front Rangers At Its Core
Established
The “Front Rangers Cycling Club”, FRCC, began operating in Colorado Springs in 1997 as a spin-off from the Front Rangers in Denver. It grew from just a few members at first. Then, in 2012 the Colorado Springs team became its own entity as an official Colorado non-profit corporation with a modified name, “Front Rangers Juniors Cycling”. It is now recognized nationally and is a respected part of the community.
Grassroots
While we do enjoy and encourage some racing, we are Not just for racing. In fact, most of what we do is expanding skills and recreational riding. Ultimately we are here to serve junior riders. Individualized – Start where you are, then grow to meet your goals. Your experience is unique, and anyone with the desire can find a fit.
Community
We see the Front Rangers as part of the Cycling Community, part of the Colorado Springs Community, and part of developing responsible citizens. There is a strong sense of purpose in supporting each other and our community by giving back through volunteering.
