Weekly Rides and Group Dynamics
Our weekly rides are organized into ability groups that may vary based on attendance. These groups are dynamic, designed to help each rider progress, develop their abilities, and eventually take on leadership roles within the group. Coaching is targeted to the specific skills and requirements of each group, and challenges are tailored to each rider’s growth rate. We encourage members to actively engage in their development and communicate their goals with coaches to ensure they’re getting the most out of their experience.
A Group for Every Rider
Our 6th to 12th grade program is a co-ed group designed for riders of all abilities currently in middle school or high school. We offer multiple groups tailored to different skill levels, interests, and goals. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to take your riding to the next level, we have a spot for you!
Not sure which program is the right fit? Check out the descriptions of our groups below to find the one that aligns with your experience and goals.
Beginner Level
The Green group is designed for riders with little or no off-pavement experience. Here, we focus on building a solid foundation of mountain biking skills. Riders in this group will get instruction on essential safety and skills, including bike/body awareness, vision, line choice, shifting, cornering, and braking.
Intermediate Level
The Blue group is for riders who have some experience on green trails and are ready to tackle blue-level singletrack. This group is perfect for those who want to level up their skills and learn the techniques needed to navigate more advanced trails in Colorado Springs. Focus areas include pedaling efficiency, progressive shifting, cornering, and technical climbing and descending.
Intermediate+ Level
Designed for riders who are comfortable on most singletrack features like rock gardens, rollers, stepdowns, and switchbacks, the Blue/Black group helps you improve the skills needed for longer, more sustained rides. This group focuses on mastering small drops, steep and loose descents, and handling technical terrain with confidence.
Advanced Level
The Black group is for experienced riders who have logged many hours on singletrack trails. This group is ideal for those looking to enhance their fitness levels and refine their skills to conquer the more technical trails in the area. Riders in this group should have previous mountain biking instruction and experience with both fundamental and advanced mountain biking skills.
Race Prep Addition: Focused Race Training
The Race Preparation group offers a space for riders to develop specific race skills, whether they’re new to racing or have prior race experience. This smaller subset of the larger club focuses on fitness, skill development, and race-specific techniques. We offer a variety of races within different disciplines and provide pre-selected race dates with club support. This group is perfect for athletes aiming to improve their race performance and consistency.

High School Composite Team
Highlander Racing
Highlanders is a composite team providing an opportunity for students in grades 9-12 to make new friends and compete in the Colorado High School Cycling League. This is a separate program, but also under the Front Rangers umbrella. The inclusion allows joint resources and coaching while meeting the league requirements, and it expands development opportunities in our youth cycling programs.
